Hey Bombsquad!
I’m here to tell you like everyone else is already telling you: glitter is IN, however, I’m also here to tell you that in order to master this for summer, the trick it not to go overboard. Hinting at some shimmer and looking effortless is the way to be ahead of the trend this year. While all your friends are smattering on all that bulky glitter, keep yours under control and the effect with Metallics instead, and you will be maddeningly beautiful. People will ask why you’re glowing and the secret will stay between us. 😉 I got all of these items at Kroger in one big haul, but I put links to everything because you can get it off of amazon too, but not with all the fun coupons Kroger gives. Okay, onward to the Beauty Haul 🙂

I loved putting this look together (and of course getting all the make-up) and I’m feeling this glittery vibe this year, but I am going to run alongside it with metallics as they’re more subtle, more elegant, and poised for any season. The secret is not to stay away from everything that shimmers, but to instead look for finer composition for some subtle shine. Glitter is light, childlike, gets in everything, metallics are bold, strong, shiny, and they add value to your look. I find mixing matte with something shimmery is the best bet for a bold and glowing effect. I love love love Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse, and every time I wear it, complete strangers go out of their way to compliment my skin. The mousse fills in pores and offers a light look all the while giving the complete coverage a Matte foundation gives. It’s my must have beauty product along with sunscreen, as these don’t have any kind of sunscreen coverage, so be sure you add that before you apply the foundation. Taking care of your skin is so important at any stage of your life, so don’t skip on the sunscreen 😉 Kroger currently has some great coupons for most of their sunscreens, so be sure to check it out so your skin wont suffer this year. I personally like anything above a 40 or 50SPF, and I usually get kid’s sunscreens because they are not as harsh for your face (less chemicals helps both your skin and the environment) aaaaand I can share it with my little one. ❤ ❤
The video is of the Holographic Highlighter, it shows that you need a finer glitter than an in-your-face kind. It’s beautiful and I use it to highlight or as a layer for eyeshadow. For this look I chose the 24K Palette by Maybelline and used the gold instead of the silver for the eyeshadow. This adds some warmth and depth without being overtly glossy or smokey. This color is also a great contrast to eye color. Rarely ever are eyes gold, but gold contrasts Green and Blue really well, and picks up on the gold flecks in brown eyes for a rich contrast as well. I think it’s one of the most overlooked eyeshadow colors, and it’s too bad, as many people look absolutely gorgeous in gold shades and they don’t even know it.
To give your eyes a natural pop, use white eyeliner on the bottom lid, but just a little bit! I used Katy Perry’s white liner because I love her collaboration with Covergirl right now. Her mascara adds a cat eye look without being overly dramatic, and it’s waterproof, so it’s perfect for some days splashing around. Instead of eyeliner on top, I used a very faint line of the Glitter part of the Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art so give my eyes not a glitterly look, but a slightly wet, dew-y look. The glitter part looks really dense in the tube, but it’s really light when applied, so it’s perfect for subtle layering. I also used it on top of my Lipstick as well to bring the look all together and to contrast the lip shades.
