School break started a few weeks ago, and in case you’re wondering what I’m up to, it is indeed one of the following: catching up on all the reading I’m supposed to be doing (sorry Potato Book Club), getting that website done for my doctor (sorry Dr. Dalton), and then there’s prancing around my yard by myself in fab dresses drinking wine…hmm…
I had an intro subscription to Rent the Runway and loved going through all the pieces on their site and creating looks for my future self. Even though there were beautiful, trendy and casual pieces available, I kind of fell in love with all the gorgeous dresses on the site, even though I have zero places (outside of my yard) to wear them right now. So, here we are. This Monique Lhuillier dress is just gorgeous, and I had been eyeing her beautifully thought out styles for a while. Every girl wants to feel like a princess on occasion, and that’s exactly how I felt when it arrived in the mail, even before I put it on.
The dress looks like confetti, and the back is open with a criss-cross pattern of material over it. The colors in this dress are gorgeous! Especially as a great contrast to an outdoor wedding. It’s fun, lively, and you can wear bright colors with it without taking away from the dress or design.
The length of the skirt is what really makes the dress stand out. It’s perfect to show off a pair of shoes! The back flows out, but it’s is cropped up like a Calla Lily in the front to show off some leg and kicks 😉
I would suggest a pair of brightly colored suede shoes like these! I bought these from Buffalo Exchange in Los Angeles years ago for nothing, and they are still one of my favorite fun, vibrant shoes to wear. I find when wearing something extraordinary and expensive, it’s best to pair it with something either played down or a little less expensive, that way you don’t take away from the focal piece.
As always, thank you for reading! If you are interested in Rent the Runway, use this link to get $30.00 off your first order 😉
xoxo,
Kate
